IT’S OFFICIAL… the champion has become a legend! From a seemingly impossible position, Nathan Cleary’s second half masterclass has delivered the biggest comeback in Grand Final history, and the first three-peat in first grade for four decades. The Panthers were on the ropes off the back of an electric Ezra Mam hat-trick, and with head injury assessments and other injuries piling up, Cleary took charge. A try assist to Moses Leota was followed by a match-changing 40/20, and shortly after the set up of Stephen Crichton’s try ensures a grandstand finish. When he broke through the Broncos defence with minutes to go, it was left to his boot to put the Panthers in front. The ball sailed through, and Penrith were champions… undisputed champions.
