The fist mentioned cricket bat dates back to 1624. Often likened to a paddle because of it’s shape this beautiful illustration highlights the evolution of the cricket bat from the hockey stick shape of the 1720’s through to the modern “blade”. Each bat is a 1/7th scale replica of the bats on display in the History of Cricket exhibition at Lords Cricket Ground, London.
