The Victoria Cross (VC) was instituted in 1856 by Queen Victoria to recognise conspicuous bravery or valour or self sacrifice in the presence of the enemy by British and Commonwealth forces. Prior to 1920 Navy personnel if awarded a VC wore a blue ribbon and Army personnel a crimson ribbon however post 1920 the VC is only awarded with the crimson ribbon to all services. There has never been an Australian from the Navy awarded a VC and only 100 Australian soldiers in its history since its inception in 1856. This framed collage features replica full size crimson and navy ribbon VC medals and an overview of the significance and history of the medals displayed. Limited to only 200 units.
