The victory cemented the Roosters claim as the strongest and most consistent side of the 2013 NRL Telstra Premiership season, following their seventeenth Minor Premiership in September. It has been 11 seasons since the Roosters last held the Provan Summons Trophy aloft, with captain Anthony Minichiello the only remaining player from their previous triumph in 2002.
